Nature Guide Training
| "We drove across the grass to be nearer, to watch and listen. Its not just in the viewing, its in the listening and smelling as well. Seven lions all with their heads stuck inside the carcass of a wildebeest, chewing and ripping and growling and snarling at each other, and jostling each other for the prime parts. The heart, the liver, the lungs etc... And by this time we were down wind and could smell the raw torn flesh and blood. So we see not just one lion kill, but two in one night. What an emotional and primal sight, what a feeling, to see nature at work like this. Not just the lion kills, but the giraffe drinking as well. A special day. The radio jargon for a kill is a 'bamba' and 'booga' is to see. We 'boogered a bambering'! We sat around with pasta and hot chocolate as the wind started to pick up and blow ash from the fire everywhere. I will greatly miss this lifestyle" |
