Our new group of Damelin students, from West Rand Campus have arrived for their first year programme with us. They are a big group, of 17, and they sure kept us busy. Overall they were a very nice group and we had a lot of fun. Their first aid programme with Andrew from SMART was a lot of fun, but hectic learning too, with Andy keeping the team very busy. The group was so big that we divided them into two teams for first aid.

Plenty of game drives were conducted too, with awesome game viewing (as usual). This crowd of students certainly got some great viewing.  It was a fun crowd of kids, who like to have a good time, so they kept Ian more than busy!

Snake handling went well, with a few of the guys almost phobic about the snakes, but most relaxed after a while and tried out all of Jens and Colleens tricks! The search for reptiles to identify, view and release went on as usual, with some big guys to help with some big rocks! We had a nest of baby brown house snakes too, and all of the guys held one before they were set free again. A young African rock python was also seen, which is always a treat. A breeding male yellow-throated plated lizard can also be seen here.

All in all, another action packed month with SASSETA, tracking, THETA NQF2, FGASA level 1 and first aid, so not much time for mischief, though these kids sure made good use of what little time they had with us!

Until next time
Lee and the ENGTS team
