Newsletter: Reptile Room

This news flash is to introduce our new reptile area at the school. In South Africa one may not keep reptiles which are indigenous to the region where you live without special permits. In the meantime however, we have prepared a room with special secure enclosures for the snakes we have purchased.

Our collection is focussed at present on exotic species such as Boa constrictors, Anacondas and Rainbow boas from South America, Gopher snakes, California king snakes and Sinaloan milk snakes from North America, Burmese pythons from Asia.

An albino Burmese and a barred California king.

An Anaconda, ‘in the blue’ and an albino California king.

A pair of Boa constrictors in the bath, and a large, striped form female California king.

Both the albino and regular form of the Sinaloan milk snake can be seen here.

A Brazilian rainbow boa and a Gopher snake can be seen making use of their hollow logs above.

We also have Kenyan sand boa, and a couple of West African Ball pythons. Australia is represented by a pair of very large Carpet pythons.

The Carpet python can be quite vicious, but our pair is very relaxed. The Kenyan sand boa is also a beautiful species, with its orange mottling, but spends most of its time below the woodchips!
